Cosmelan is the world’s leading pigmentation removal method. This safe and non-invasive treatment gently targets and treats unwanted pigmentation by treating the source of the pigmentation to deliver a clearer and brighter complexion. The treatment works regardless of whether the pigmentation is new or old, or whether the pigmentation was caused by melasma, hyperpigmentation from acne, or sun damage.  It is also safe for all ages and ethnicities. This treatment does not use aggressive bleaching agents and features mineral sourced ingredients to fade pigmentation while also preventing more from producing. What to expect during treatment

This two-step process firstly involves an application in clinic of a de-pigmenting mask. This mask is not washed off for 6-8 hours following your in-clinic visit (the length of time will be determined by your therapist during consultation as it will depend on your skin type). The second part of the treatment is an at-home maintenance solution that is applied twice daily to enhance the effects of the mask.

Preparation and Downtime

Clients must be using the mesoestetic Skin Retin 0.3% for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to Cosmelan treatment and have a mesoestetic Jessner Pro or Blemiskin peel 2 weeks prior to Cosmelan treatment.  Your therapist will advise you which one to book in for based on your skin type. You will also need to avoid all active ingredients 3-5 days prior to treatment.

Post treatment, once the mask is washed off, it is normal for the skin to be red and slightly irritated. Your skin may also feel tight and slightly uncomfortable. The skin may feel tender for up to 10 days post treatment and you may experience redness and peeling for up to 30 days post treatment.

It is imperative post treatment to follow the home care plan provided to you by your therapist and only use the products provided to you in your home care kit in order to achieve the best possible outcome and also minimise the risk of any reactions. Homecare protocol will need to be followed for 6 months post in clinic treatment. After in clinic treatment, you will come in 3-5 days later for a facial regeneration treatment. A home care kit including the products needed for post care and the regeneration facial are both included in the cost of treatment.

It is then recommended to come in once a month for 6 months to have an Age Element Treatment.

How many sessions are required?

Most clients will achieve the desired effects after only one session.  There is also a range of homecare products that can be used in conjunction with the peel which will assist in providing longer results.  It is unlikely that even with severe cases of pigmentation, that a client will require more than three sessions.
